Examination & Promotion

  • The academic year of the School has three terms :
    a) March to May
    b) July to October
    c) November to February
  • An examination each will be held at the end of every term and no student will be allowed to take the examinations earlier or later. In other words, anybody absent from an examination without an exceptionally grave cause will be considered as having failed; in case of illness a Medical Certificate to the effect issued by a medical practitioner of competence from a Govt. Hospital should be produced in original.
  • Those who absent themselves in any subject shall be considered as failed in that subject and shall not be considered for any position, nor shall be re-examined.
  • Regular periodical tests will also be conducted in addition to the term examinations. Marks obtained in all the tests and term examinations will be taken into consideration for promotion subject to other relevant rules contained herein.
  • A pupil shall be eligible to appear in the Final Examination only if he/she has secured a minimum of 85% of the total attendance.
  • Anyone found indulging in any malpractice during an examination is liable to be debarred from further examinations and strict disciplinary action shall be initiated against such culprits.
  • The criteria for promotion in the Final Examination shall be 45% of the aggregate marks obtained by the candidate in all the subjects and examinations besides the internal assessment made by the school.
  • Results declared at the end of the year are final and binding on all concerned. No reconsideration will ever be resorted to , nor will the answer papers ever be shown to anybody. However if re-evaluation is sought, a fee of Rs. 300/- will be charged for each answer sheet accompanied by a written application by the parent/ guardian to this effect.
    • ICSE evaluation criteria for promotion will be strictly followed for the students of 8th and 9th standard.
    • To be promoted to a higher class, securing the minimum Pass-mark in English is compulsory as the school's medium of instruction is English, besides complying with the ICSE evaluation criteria.
    • The minimum percentage for promotion to a higher class in all ordinary situations would be 45% of the aggregate of all the 3 term examinations for each subject along with all the other prescribed conditions.
    • Promotion to a higher class does not guarantee an automatic renewal of admission to the school; one may be asked to leave the school based on the discipline and behavioural pattern of the previous year. The names of those who have not taken renewed admission within 10 days of the re-opening of the school will be deleted from the roll and the consequent vacancies will be allotted to those who are on the waiting list.
    • ICSE promotion criteria for the 10th standard is Pass-mark for English, SUPW and other 4 subjects, for obtaining a Pass Certificate.
  • A student who fails in two consecutive final examinations in the same class will have to opt out of the school.
  • The scheme of promotion of the school management is that the decision of the Principal/ school authority in the matter of promotion is final and irrevocable. Those who accept this scheme of promotion should only seek admission in this school.
  • While reviewing each report the parents/ guardians are requested to examine the home work and school diary of the students. It will be helpful in understanding the progress he/she has made in accordance with the expectation of the parent/ guardian.
  • Promotion to a higher class, inter alia, depends on the following factors also:
    i) Regularity in attendance.
    ii) Extent and quality of day-to-day participation in the class.
    iii) Opinion of teachers of different subjects in the class.
    iv) An assessment of the student's daily record register.
    v) Performance in written and project works assigned to the student in different subjects.
    vi) Average percentage of the term examinations.
